This October, we have been deeply moved by the generosity of our community. Every donation, large or small, has helped to ensure that those in need have access to essentials. Due to you supporting Risca community, our pantri is able to serve as a vital resource, providing food, warmth, and a sense of security to individuals and families alike.
Supporting Risca this Month
Here are some of the amazing contributions that made an impact this month:
đ St. Margaretâs Church brought festive cheer to The Pantri by donating pumpkins! Families could pick up these seasonal treats, adding a touch of fall fun to their kitchens. Thank you for helping us create a warm, welcoming atmosphere this autumn.
đ Hope Baptist Church shared their Harvest Festival donations, contributing essentials that will reach individuals and families in need. Your generosity has been a lifeline to many, and if anyone reading this knows of a family in need, please encourage them to reach out.
đ€ The Salvation Army in Risca joined us with their own Harvest Festival donation. Working alongside their Trussell Trust food bank, we are proud to collaborate in offering reliable support to those who need it most. Together, we are trusted names committed to our community’s well-being.
đ« Cwmcarn Primary School made a heartfelt contribution with their Harvest Festival collection. Their communityâs kindness and empathy will touch the lives of many local families, ensuring that no one is left without the basics. Thank you for your compassion and community spirit.
đ A local gentleman made a generous donation in memory of his brother, Richard. His thoughtful gift will directly support those facing difficult times. If anyone feels inspired to contribute in memory of a loved one, please reach outâwe would be honored to help carry forward their legacy.
What your Donations Help Achieve
Thanks to October’s donations, weâve reached incredible milestones this month. Together, we saved over 1,300 kg of food from going to landfill, redirecting it to those who need it most. By providing emergency food parcels, weâve been able to offer immediate assistance to families facing food insecurity. But it doesnât stop thereâour team has also provided essential referrals, connecting individuals and families with further support services so they can find lasting solutions and stability.
This month also marked some wonderful new beginnings. We successfully launched our Tiny Treasures baby bank, offering essential items to families with infants, just another way Community Volunteer Wales is supporting Risca families. We connected two unpaid carers with respite opportunities to help them get much-needed breaks. All of this has been made possible by our 13 dedicated volunteers, who contributed over 132 hours of their time to ensure each initiative was a success. We couldnât be prouder of what weâve achieved together and look forward to seeing the continued impact these efforts will make in our community.
