It’s been a very busy winter period for us. Our first anniversary is approaching and what a first year it has been! We’ll reflect on our journey in our next blog but right now we want to talk about a really exciting new partnership for us and our zero waste to landfill mission! We’ve partnered with Too Good To Go and The Pantri will now feature on their app during the week on days that we open.
Since our conception we have been an eco-shopping solution for those looking for a sustainable lifestyle on a budget. Our aims are simple, to help people in the community lower their carbon footprint without breaking their bank balance. We also offer a much needed lifeline for those in the community that have struggled with this current cost of living crisis, offering memberships from just £2 a quarter and baskets of food for just £4.
Who are Too Good To Go
Too Good To Go is a phone app that allows those on the app to purchase surprise bags from local businesses. The surprise bags are full of items that have a limited life and in buying one you are preventing those items from going into the waste bins at supermarkets and as a result rotting in landfill.

- Almost 30,000 businesses registered to the scheme
- 37 million surprise bags saved as of February 2024
The app is free to download and use, you just pay for the bags that you purchase. They work with lots of different types of shops and restaurants, hotels and bakeries. On the app you can find anything from supermarket groceries, to hotel breakfasts, to fresh pastries and sausage rolls. Any fresh food that hasn’t passed its use by date can be sold on the app. Occasionally, you might receive an item that has passed its best before date. This date is just there to indicate quality, not safety, so the food will still be perfectly safe (and delicious!) to consume.

What Items to Expect
The only advice we can give to those purchasing a Too Good To Go bag from us is to expect the unexpected. Our stock varies from week to week. We never know what items we are going to be stocking, or how many of the items we will get in. Your bag could have a selection of items, or it could contain many of the same thing. But hey – that’s the too good to go gamble. It’ll make a good Tik Tok either way.
